HELL’S MAUSOLEUM
“I told you, Sid that I did not want to come in here, and I know that you heard that.”
“Heard what Carl? There is nothing in here but a big chicken, unless you want to count Alice Ward?”
“Who is Alice Ward?” Carl asked fearfully.
“Oh, my dear Carl, don’t you mean what is Alice Ward? Well let me enlighten you, you see Alice Ward was a young woman who allegedly served Satan, and during the full moon Halloween night twenty years ago, he came and laid claim her soul. Some people say that she conducted ceremonies in his honor in her basement, and we are going down there to investigate,” Sid replied in a voice that said he would not listen to reason. But that did not stop Carl from trying.
“Look Sid, I don’t believe in ghost, but if I did, I would have to say that if the devil did indeed take Alice Ward, then neither she, nor her soul is here. So if you don’t mind, I will wait for you outside.” Carl replied sounding braver than he felt as he turned toward the direction of the front door. But Sid never heard his friends retreating remarks, because he was taking his first step down into the dark abyss of the cold empty basement, armed with a tiny flashlight to guide his way.
His heart raced, and sweat rolled down his forehead into his eyes, causing them to burn. Quickly he wiped it away, but the burning continued. In fact, he felt as if his entire body was on fire. Removing his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt gave him little comfort. But the bean of his flashlight caught sight of a scene that would not allow him to avert his eyes.
“Carl, come quick, you have to see this,” he yelled moving closer to the alter, and the bloody remains of something that once was a human.
“See what?” Someone whispered from behind. Turning in surprise, he found no one. Then he heard the soft whisper again.
“See what Sid; see that you are in a mausoleum? I already knew that. You really should listen to rumors Sid; sometimes there is some truth to them. This place, this mausoleum, and all within its walls belong to hell. Look Sid, look at the alter. See what you came here to see. For here is where those that trespass will dwell for eternity!” The mangled corpse replied rising from the altar taking hold of Sid dragging him back into the darkness, as a thousand claw like hands ripped the flesh from his bones. And the catacombs of hell echoed with his agonizing screams.
“No Carl, no!”
